Veliko Turnovo development plan

Veliko Tarnovo District Administration has elaborated a Strategy for the development of Veliko Tarnovo District for the period 2005-2015.
Elaborated on the basis of article 10 of the Law on Regional Development, the Strategy corresponds with the principles of programming and planning, laid down in the EU regional policy and socio – economic cohesion policy. The strategy is a fundamental document, which defines the strategic objectives and priorities of the district’s development policy.

The strategy for development of Veliko Tarnovo district includes:

Analysis of the socio-economic development of the district;
A brief SWOT-analysis of the current circumstances, problems and opportunities for development;
Main strategic goal, 6 priority objectives, measures and activities, related to each one of the priority objectives;
Institutional organization and coordination for the implementation of the strategy;
Spatial development scheme;

Veliko Tarnovo District elaborated a Short-term Energy Efficiency Strategy, too. The Strategy acts during the period 2005-2007. The main objectives of the Energy Efficiency Strategy are as follows:

Reduction of the relative energy consumption per GDP unit in Veliko Tarnovo district;
Mitigation of harmful gasses emissions in the atmosphere and protection of the environment in Veliko Tarnovo District;
Improvement of the quality of life of the population of Veliko Tarnovo District;
Sustainable development of the district.
